Women in the NJ Workplace: 

Breaking the Glass Ceiling

Forum at Rutgers, New Brunswick

 

A forum on “Women in the New Jersey Workplace:  Breaking the Glass Ceiling” will be held at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, on Monday, March 10 at 7:30 pm.  The panel discussion will focus on women’s advancement in business, medicine, academia and government in New Jersey.  The speakers will address such questions as:

·      Is there really a glass ceiling for women?

·      If so, how do you get through it?

·      How does a woman balance a high-powered career with parenting?

 

The forum will be held at Rutgers University at the Ruth Dill Johnson Crockett Building – Center for Women’s Programs, 162 Ryders Lane, New Brunswick.  Admission is free.

 

Speakers will include:

·      Sharon Taylor, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, of Prudential Insurance.  She chairs The Prudential Foundation and is a member of Prudential’s Senior Management Committee.

 

·      Dr. Sindy Paul, Medical Director for the NJ Dept. of Health and Senior Services, Division of HIV/AIDS and Associate Prof. at UMDNJ.  She is the past President of the NJ Board of Medical Examiners, the first woman to hold such an office in the United States.

 

·      Jeannine LaRue, Vice President of Public Affairs for Rutgers University.  She formerly served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Corzine.

 

The forum is sponsored by the Middlesex County National Organization for Women (NOW), the Rutgers Department of Women’s and Gender Studies, and the Institute for Women’s Leadership.
