I would like to respond to the Oct. 5
letter "Homosexuality contrary to the Bible's teachings." It is sad that
our school system does not educate us in basic civics. If it did, citizens
would realize we are a secular nation and we respect the right to religion.
But under no circumstances do people of one faith have the right to impose their
beliefs on anyone else.
Religion does not trump basic civil and human rights. I would encourage
the Episcopal Church rector who wrote the letter to share with his church
members that one of the primary contributors to the Bible left a message –- “a
new commandment I give to you, that you love one another.”
