Denver, May 26 -- Gov. Bill
Ritter keeps on signin'.
Ritter will sign two military-related bills today after the Memorial Day parade
in Denver, and he has several bill-signing events planned for next week,
including on the Western Slope.
Ritter signed 16 bills Friday, including a measure that adds sexual
orientation as a category of workplace discrimination.
Although a number of Republicans weren't happy, Dems hailed the action.
"I'm thrilled," said Sen. Jennifer Veiga, D-Denver, who sponsored the bill nine
of her 11 years in the legislature. "This is definitely one of those
things that I will remember. It will be one of the highlights of my
political career."
Ritter also signed Senate Bill 231, establishing a program to accept and
distribute donated unused cancer drugs to uninsured and under-insured cancer
patients.
Today's signing will take place at the Colorado Veterans Monument at Lincoln
Park, west of the Capitol.
