of Three-Part Seminar Series Exploring GLBT Issues Slated for Feb.

The New Jersey State Bar
Foundation, along with the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights and
the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and
Transgender Rights Committee, is cosponsoring three free public
seminars relating to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights.
The second seminar, titled, Discrimination Against Sexual
Minorities in Employment, Housing & Public Accommodations, will
be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. at
the New Jersey Law Center, One Constitution Square (off Ryders Lane)
in New Brunswick.
Tom Prol, who is co-chair of the NJSBA’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and
Transgender Rights Committee, will serve as the evening’s moderator.
Prol practices environmental and land use law with the law firm of
Scarinci & Hollenbeck in Lyndhurst.
Four panelists will participate in the seminar, including Frank
Vespa-Papaleo, director of New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, who
will explore tips for employers and employees to prevent GLBT
discrimination in the workplace. Leslie Farber, from the Law
Offices of Leslie Farber in Montclair, will discuss transgender
rights law in New Jersey. Edward Barocas, legal director of
the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey will review
cutting-edge GLBT discrimination issues in New Jersey and Steven
Goldstein, chair of Garden State Equality, an organization that
fights for GLBT rights, will explore how to make progress in New
Jersey civil rights law.
The final installment of the seminar series, titled Education
Issues and GLBT Law, will be held Thursday, March 22, 2007.
