Religious leaders
announce support
for same-sex marriage

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A group of
church leaders has announced an advertising campaign in support of same-sex
marriage.
The advertisements say "Rhode Island Religious Leaders Supporting Same-Gender
Marriages" and depict two dozen clergymen.
They will run for a month on ten public buses.
The ads come from the Rhode Island Religious Coalition for Same-Gender Marriage,
which includes leaders from different denominations.
Rhode Island does not allow same-sex marriage, and bills that would legalize it
have repeatedly died in the General Assembly.
