KENSINGTON, Md. -- The town of Kensington passed a resolution Monday supporting the expansion of civil marriage to include same-sex couples, according to Equality Maryland, an LGBT civil rights organization.

The council passed the resolution unanimously.  Takoma Park has passed a similar resolution.

The move comes one month before the Maryland General Assembly will debate the issue of civil marriage for same-sex couples.
