How much longer are we going to fall for the lies and the hypocrisy? For the last five years, Republicans have been talking tough, wrapping themselves in the flag, and calling anyone who has the temerity to speak truth to power or - God forbid - defend our Constitution, a terrorist-coddling traitor. We don't need a book by Bob Woodward to tell us what we already knew - this gang is in a state of COMPLETE denial.

Look, if George W. Bush and his Republican cronies walked on water, I'd be the guy out there yelling that they couldn't swim. But don't take it from me: we've now heard it from the military commanders and our intelligence community: George Bush's actions in Iraq have not made us safer. They've done the opposite.

And when faced with the truth - the truth about their corrupt friend Jack Abramoff, the truth about their prescription drug bill that is really a pharmaceutical company's dream, the truth about their energy plan that doesn't lessen our dependence on foreign oil - they decide to create their own truth, and try to sell it to the American people.

Well, the American people aren't buying anymore. They're ready for a new direction. And that's what Senate Democrats are going to give us.

Folks, I am telling you, now is the time to clinch victory in the Senate for Democrats. Republicans are on the run and we can put them down for the count by hitting them with everything we've got immediately. That is why I need you to give to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) today.

It's getting ugly for the Republicans these days. So ugly that they are starting to turn on their own. In a truly extraordinary rebuke, the right-wing Washington Times called this week for the resignation of House Speaker Dennis Hastert for his role in covering up the latest Republican scandal.

It's at precisely the time that they're tearing each other apart that we need to stick together. And there's no better way to do that than to support the DSCC in their effort to elect Democratic candidates to the Senate nationwide.

The momentum is on our side. That is why we're going to win red states, blues states and everything in between. The polls show that Democrats would take back the Senate if the election were held today.

You heard me right: Pennsylvania, Montana, Rhode Island, Ohio, Missouri, Tennessee, and Virginia. We can win every last one - every last one!

But Republicans still have one trump card to play. Our Republican opponents have tens of millions of dollars to spend tearing down our candidates in the 34 days between now and the election.

It's the old bait and switch. Republicans figure that if they repeat the same partisan garbage long enough, voters will forget that they're the ones who have shamed this country with their gross misconduct. They want to campaign in the same gutter where they live, fine. But they're not bringing us down there with them. We won't let it happen.

October is when campaigns are won or lost. That's been true of every election I've ever worked on. Now is the time your money will do the most good. Give to the DSCC today and we'll make sure voters hear the one thing the GOP can't beat: the truth. Please, do your part today.

George Bush and his cronies are finally being exposed for the fabricators they are. The momentum is on our side. The only thing standing between us and victory is five weeks of them throwing everything they've got at us. But we've got something better. We've got the truth. We've got the ideas. We have the candidates. And I hope I can say that we've got YOU.
