TOMS RIVER -- The state Attorney General's Office has found probable cause to bring civil charges against a Manchester company for denying a qualified job applicant employment because of his religion.

After an investigation into a complaint that Lab Corporation of America in Manchester had denied a job to a qualified candidate because his Orthodox Jewish faith would preclude him from working on Saturdays, the Civil Rights division of the Attorney General's Office filed documents saying it had found sufficient evidence to believe the company had violated the state's Law Against Discrimination, according to Attorney General Peter C. Harvey.

The job applicant in question is Stuart Aron, a Lakewood resident who had responded to a job listing for a phlebotomist.  He was interviewed for the position.
