GRESHAM, Ore. -- A gay man from Gresham has won a discrimination suit against a well-known restaurant chain.

The jury ruled that 33-year-old Kevin Turner faced a hostile work environment at Shari's because he failed to display "traditional male behavior."

The gender discrimination suit was filed against Shari's in US District Court.

The Oregonian reports that Turner got a jury award of 122-thousand dollars.

A spokesman for Shari's says the chain tries to provide a safe environment for all employees.

According to court documents, Turner alleged that he faced constant harassment while working at Shari's in 2002 and 2003.

In one incident, a supervisor reportedly referred to Turner as "Kevina" during an employee morale boosting forum.
