Statement from Senator Jon S. Corzine

Dear Friend,
I want you to be among the first to hear directly from me that I intend to run for Governor of New Jersey.
I did not come to this decision lightly. It is a great honor to serve you as your United States Senator and I am thankful for your trust and support.
Now I believe I can best serve the people of this state as our next elected governor.
I am sure that you, like many people in our great state, feel that it is time for a fresh, independent and effective approach to the problems facing New Jersey.
As Governor, I promise you that I will help to restore faith in our state government and bring a strong business sense and independent voice to the issues we care about so deeply.
Today I am holding a press conference to make my intentions clear.
Early next year, I plan to hold an official campaign kick-off that will include leaders and supporters, such as yourself.
This is just the beginning, there's lots of work ahead.
There is no doubt that this campaign will be hard fought, but I look forward to the challenge and I look forward to working with you.
