Richard John Harrison at THE CIVIL RIGHTS
GARDEN,
Atlantic City. This was our
first visit to this spot and we were delighted we took the time to
visitt. It is a powerful tribute with sculpture inscriptions related to
the history, events and people of the Civil Rights Movement.
At the center of the Garden is a bronze bell, which chimes
throughout the day, and a reflection pool inscribed with excerpts from
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “Let Freedom Ring” speech and his
“Letters from a Birmingham Jail” |

John Crowell Campbell with Rich at the NEW
JERSEY
KOREAN WAR MEMORIAL.
It is adjacent to the Boardwalk in Brighton Park, Park Place,
Atlantic City. The Memorial features a 12 foot high statue of
“The Mourning Soldier” clutching dog tags and a group of
soldiers “under fire” emerging through a sheet of water just
to his left. The back wall, beneath an eternal flame, is engraved
with the names of the 822 NJ soldiers who were killed or are still
missing in action.
John, a Navy Hospital Corpsman, served with the First Marine Air
Wing in Korea. |
